Analysis

According to a post by Sawyer Merritt on X, ARK Invest discussed a potential Tesla-SpaceX merger and shared details from its latest Tesla valuation model.

Potential Merger and AI Synergies

ARK Invest noted that a SpaceX-Tesla merger could take place within the next five years. Tesla’s robotaxi network could help fund SpaceX’s orbital data centers, while SpaceX’s compute-intensive frontier AI models could serve as the planning layer for Optimus deployments. Working together on the Terafab project, both companies could alleviate chip constraints.

Combined Financial Projections

ARK Invest estimates that SpaceX and Tesla combined could generate $3.8 trillion in revenue and $2.7 trillion in EBIT by 2031, with SpaceX contributing roughly 62 percent of revenue and 69 percent of EBIT. ARK’s model does not assume a merger.

Tesla Valuation Details

ARK’s 2031 Tesla base case projects a $17.5 trillion valuation, with roughly 1 million Optimus robots sold externally for about $212 billion in revenue, 8.1 million robotaxis generating around $753 billion in ride-hail revenue, and total revenue of about $1.45 trillion. The bull case reaches a $20.4 trillion market cap with higher figures across energy storage, Optimus, and robotaxi operations.
