EchoProtocol: Hacker Mints $76M eBTC in Bridge Exploit

EchoProtocol suffered a fresh exploit today as the attacker minted 1,000 $eBTC worth $76.64M and drained 385 ETH valued at $821K, extending a brutal four-day run of bridge attacks that already claimed over $21.5M from THORChain and the Verus-Ethereum Bridge.

These incidents echo the pattern of Ethereum bridge hacks that intensified through 2025, where weak minting controls repeatedly allowed attackers to bypass reserves and liquidate positions across multiple chains.

With ETH printing at $2140.24 on the 4-hour chart, price remains pinned below both the EMA50 at $2219.05 and EMA200 at $2259.22, locking in a bearish trend structure reinforced by the MACD death cross at -33.39. The token sits inside the Bollinger bands between $2093.54 support and $2237.89 resistance, suggesting any relief rally will likely stall at the upper band before a deeper test of the 50-EMA amid continued exploit-driven risk aversion.
