Eleanor Terrett returned from Korea, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines reporting that regulators and firms across APAC still regard the United States as the global model for digital asset rules and institutional adoption, despite domestic frustration over stalled federal market structure legislation and the failed Clarity Act. A Singapore-based executive told her the U.S. underestimates its own advantages. Terrett noted that states such as Illinois are now advancing draft Digital Asset Tax rules that could classify DEXes as brokers and force protocols to collect user data, raising concerns about DeFi activity. She will discuss regulatory responses to emerging risks at DC Fintech Week with Jerome Beaumont of EGFIU and Bruno Batavia of Valor Capital Group.
