Ron Wyden: Preserve Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act in Clarity Act

Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) pressed Senate leaders to keep the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act intact inside any Clarity Act package that reaches the floor. The move addresses doubts from law enforcement agencies and the need for backing from Democrats including Senators Cortez Masto and Mark Warner. Wyden’s letter to Thune and Schumer states the provision simply codifies current policy, exempting non-custodial software developers from money transmitter status while leaving DOJ and FinCEN tools against illicit actors untouched. Wyden co-sponsored the original BRCA bill with Senator Lummis.
