Anthropic's Claude for Small Business integrates AI into tools like QuickBooks, HubSpot, and Canva, offering 15 workflows to streamline operations.
Anthropic has unveiled Claude for Small Business, an AI-driven solution designed to integrate seamlessly into the tools small businesses already use. The package includes connectors and workflows tailored to automate tasks across finance, marketing, operations, HR, and more—potentially leveling the playing field for smaller companies often left behind in AI adoption.
Small businesses make up 44% of U.S. GDP and employ nearly half of the private-sector workforce, yet their uptake of AI has lagged. According to Anthropic, this is primarily due to tools that aren't adapted to their workflows. With this launch, Anthropic aims to address that gap by embedding its Claude AI into platforms like Intuit QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. Business owners can use Claude to automate tedious tasks like payroll planning, invoice chasing, and campaign management, all while retaining control over approvals.
"Small businesses have never had the resources of larger enterprises," said Daniela Amodei, Co-founder and President of Anthropic. "AI is the first technology that can meaningfully close that gap. Claude for Small Business takes on late-night work like planning payroll or kicking off a marketing campaign, so owners can focus on running their business."
Key Features and Workflows
The product ships with 15 ready-to-run workflows and 15 task-specific skills, designed to save time and reduce errors. Highlights include:
- Payroll Planning: Syncs QuickBooks with PayPal to forecast cash flow, prioritize overdue payments, and queue reminders.
- Month-End Reconciliation: Automatically flags mismatches, generates plain-English P&L statements, and prepares exportable close packets for accountants.
- Marketing Campaigns: Analyzes HubSpot performance, drafts promotional strategies, and generates visual assets via Canva.
- Customer Insights: Provides real-time business insights, including cash positions, sales trends, and pipeline updates, on one dashboard.
Additional tools include a tax-season organizer, contract reviewer, and content strategist, among others. The system requires users to approve all actions, maintaining a layer of oversight and control.
Security and Training Initiatives
Anthropic emphasized its commitment to data security—a top concern for small business owners. User data isn’t used to train Claude’s models by default, and existing permissions in tools like QuickBooks and Google Drive remain intact.
To help entrepreneurs utilize these tools effectively, Anthropic partnered with PayPal to launch a free online course, AI Fluency for Small Business. The course provides step-by-step guidance on incorporating AI into daily operations, with input from successful small business owners.
Roadshow and Partnership Expansions
Anthropic will also host an SMB Tour across U.S. cities starting May 14 in Chicago. The half-day workshops are free and include live AI training and a one-month Claude Max subscription for attendees.
Beyond the product rollout, Anthropic is collaborating with nonprofits supporting small businesses. Partner initiatives include grants for solo entrepreneurs through the Workday Foundation and AI-driven tools to improve access to funding via Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs).
