Anthropic opens Singapore office, signs AI MOU with government

Anthropic said on Oct. 14, 2026, that it opened a new office in Singapore and signed a memorandum of understanding with Singapore’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information, expanding its Asia-Pacific footprint as it deepens work with government and enterprise customers in the city-state.

Evidence and context

In its company statement, Anthropic said the Singapore location is its fifth office in the Asia-Pacific region. The company said the move is designed to support customers in Singapore and the wider region, and it quoted Dale Finlay, Anthropic’s general manager for ASEAN, as saying the company is “committed to Singapore for the long term.”

The MOU was signed by Kai Fong Chng, permanent secretary of the ministry, and Anthropic co-founder Ben Mann on the sidelines of Singapore International Cyber Week, with Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo and Michael Sellitto, Anthropic’s head of APAC policy, witnessing the signing, according to Anthropic. The company said the agreement covers cooperation on AI safety, security and model evaluation, research into AI adoption and its impact, and responsible adoption across the public and private sectors.

Anthropic also said it plans technical exchanges with Singapore’s AI safety, security and assurance institutions on model evaluation, testing standards and incident response, along with work on AI skills, support for responsible SME adoption and technical and policy input as Singapore develops its AI rules.

What Anthropic said about its Singapore business

The company said Singapore ranks second out of 121 countries in Claude.ai usage relative to population in its latest Economic Index, at nearly six times what its size would predict. Anthropic said more than 1,500 engineers and technical staff at GovTech Singapore use Claude Code to modernize government systems and speed software delivery, while the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore is exploring uses for Claude in cyber defense.

Anthropic also named DBS, GIC, Grab, Sea and Supabase among organizations using its tools in Singapore. It said DBS uses Claude across software development and productivity work in Singapore operations; GIC is rolling out Claude across investment and corporate services teams; Grab uses Claude in its BriX sales assistant; Sea uses Claude to support Shopee customer service and coding tasks; and Supabase is building with Claude Code. These are company-reported customer-use statements.

The company said organizations in regulated sectors can run Claude with in-region inference on Amazon Bedrock, which it said may help with data processing requirements. Anthropic also said it hosted Builder Summit Singapore this week with more than 300 developers, and that local Claude community ambassadors held a meetup for more than 700 builders earlier in the week.

Anthropic did not disclose financial terms for the Singapore office or the MOU. The company’s description of customer adoption, productivity gains and security benefits is based on its own reporting and should be read as company statements rather than independently verified measurements.
