Ethereum Foundation Launches ETH Rangers Program for Public Goods Security

The Ethereum Foundation introduces the ETH Rangers program, offering stipends to enhance security efforts within the Ethereum ecosystem. Applications open until December 20, 2024.
The Ethereum Foundation has unveiled the ETH Rangers program, a new initiative aimed at bolstering security efforts for public goods within the Ethereum ecosystem, according to the Ethereum Foundation. This program, spearheaded by the Protocol Security Research Team and the Ecosystem Funding Initiative, is designed to incentivize contributions to the security and resilience of Ethereum's infrastructure.
Public Goods Security Work
ETH Rangers will provide stipends to individuals dedicating their time to public goods security projects. Over a six-month period, selected participants will each receive $25,000 USD. The program seeks to support a range of activities, including vulnerability research, educational material creation, pro-bono incident handling or audits, and the development of tools and frameworks that benefit the Ethereum community.
Importantly, the program is open to those currently employed in public goods security, emphasizing the need for substantial dedication to advancing Ethereum’s security infrastructure. Applications for the program are open until December 20, 2024.
Important Dates
- Nov 21, 2024: Wave-1 applications open.
- Dec 31, 2024: Deadline for Wave-1 applications.
- Jan 20, 2025: Recipients selected.
- July 20, 2025: Final work reports due, followed by payment of the remaining stipend.
Full-Time Opportunities at Ethereum Foundation
In addition to the ETH Rangers program, the Ethereum Foundation’s Protocol Security Research team is actively seeking to hire two Security Engineers. This presents an opportunity for professionals interested in a more permanent role in public goods security to join the foundation's efforts.
