Etherlink, Tezos' EVM-compatible Layer 2, now live on Dune, enabling detailed analysis of network activity, DeFi, and cross-chain flows.
Etherlink, the EVM-compatible Layer 2 built on Tezos Smart Rollup technology, is now available for analysis on Dune. This integration enables researchers, developers, and institutions to explore Etherlink's onchain activity alongside other major blockchain networks, using Dune's standardized SQL-based analytics.
Launched as one of the first enshrined optimistic rollups, Etherlink combines Ethereum-level tooling compatibility with Tezos' liquid proof-of-stake consensus. Key design features include enshrined rollup architecture, EVM equivalence for seamless Solidity contract deployment, and low transaction costs averaging $0.001 with sub-second confirmation times.
Etherlink's unique approach as an enshrined rollup means its core infrastructure—validation logic, fraud-proof systems, and message processing—is embedded directly into Tezos' Layer 1 protocol. This eliminates reliance on external contracts, enhancing security and governance. Upgrades to Etherlink are governed by Tezos' decentralized, on-chain voting mechanism, giving the network's bakers the final say on key changes.
Developers can deploy standard Ethereum tooling such as MetaMask, Hardhat, and The Graph on Etherlink, with fees paid in tez (Tezos' native token). Cross-chain interoperability is also a focus, with support for native bridging between Etherlink, Tezos L1, Ethereum, and other EVM networks via LayerZero and other solutions.
Since exiting beta in early 2025, Etherlink has attracted leading DeFi protocols, including Curve, Midas, Hanji, and Gearbox, and hosted incentive programs like Apple Farm, which distributed over $6 million in rewards across two seasons. Its roadmap includes a significant upgrade, "Tezos X," slated for testnet in May 2026 and a mainnet governance vote in June. This upgrade will allow seamless interaction between Tezos smart contracts and Etherlink's EVM environment.
With the Dune integration, users can now query Etherlink's activity in detail, covering:
- Transaction volumes, gas fees in tez, and sequencer throughput
- DeFi metrics such as TVL, borrowing, and DEX volume
- Stablecoin transfers, holder distributions, and cross-chain flows
- Bridge activity between Etherlink, Tezos L1, and other EVM chains
- Smart contract deployments and usage trends
Dune's queryable dashboards simplify tracking Etherlink's adoption and performance, placing it in context with other blockchain networks. As Etherlink continues to evolve, its availability on Dune will be instrumental for evaluating its impact on both the Tezos ecosystem and the broader Ethereum-compatible DeFi space.
