The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a warning to the public concerning a fraudulent website and internet banking login screen associated with Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. This development was highlighted in a recent press release by the bank and subsequently reported to the HKMA.

According to the HKMA, the fraudulent website and login screen have been designed to deceive customers into providing sensitive personal information. The authority emphasizes that legitimate banks will not send SMS or emails containing embedded hyperlinks that direct users to their websites for transactions. Moreover, banks will refrain from requesting sensitive information such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords through phone, email, or SMS.
