The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has released the results of recent tenders for Exchange Fund Bills (EF Bills), according to an official press release on the HKMA website. The tenders took place on 21 May 2024, with the results providing a snapshot of the financial market's response.
Key Details of the Tender
The tenders involved two sets of EF Bills, each with distinct issue numbers, dates, and maturity dates. The first set (issue number Q2421), issued on 22 May 2024, received an applied amount of HK$128,400 MN, out of which HK$62,151 MN was allotted. The average yield accepted for this set was 4.40 percent, with the highest yield accepted being 4.50 percent. The pro rata ratio was approximately 37 percent, and the average tender yield was 4.56 percent.
The second set of EF Bills (issue number H2450) also issued on 22 May 2024, received an applied amount of HK$45,383 MN, with HK$15,000 MN allotted. The average yield accepted was slightly lower at 4.34 percent, with the highest yield accepted being 4.41 percent. The pro rata ratio for this set was significantly higher, approximately 81 percent, and the average tender yield was 4.47 percent.
Upcoming Tenders
In addition to the results, the HKMA also announced the schedule for upcoming tenders for the week beginning 27 May 2024. Three sets of EF Bills are set to be offered, with issue numbers Q2422, H2451, and M2406, and maturity dates spanning from July to November 2024.
