The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued an alert to the public regarding a fraudulent website linked to Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. The HKMA's warning highlights the risks posed by this fraudulent site, which has been reported to the authority, according to the HKMA's recent press release.

Details of the Fraudulent Website

The HKMA emphasizes that banks will not send SMS or emails containing embedded hyperlinks directing customers to their websites for transaction purposes. Additionally, banks will not request sensitive personal information, such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords (OTPs), through phone calls, emails, or SMS messages, including those with embedded hyperlinks.

Public Advisory

Individuals who have provided personal information or conducted financial transactions via the fraudulent website are advised to contact the bank using the contact information provided in the press release. Furthermore, they should report the matter to the Police by contacting the Crime Wing Information Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force at 2860 5012.
