IDC brings Quanta into Claude and expands internal use

IDC said it has brought IDC Quanta into Claude for customers and has also rolled Claude out across its own business, linking its technology-intelligence platform to Anthropic’s assistant while widening internal adoption across engineering, product, marketing and sales.

Evidence and context

In material published by Claude on Oct. 28, 2026, IDC Research said customers can now use the IDC Quanta MCP connector inside Claude to access IDC’s forecasts, market data and research, with answers cited back to IDC documents or datasets. IDC said the workflow is designed to replace slower report-reading and manual synthesis with question-and-answer access to market intelligence for tasks such as competitive briefs, vendor shortlists and comparisons against a customer’s own numbers.

The company said IDC Quanta works in the Claude app on desktop and mobile, in Cowork and through Microsoft Office add-ins. IDC also said the system uses the same data and definitions as IDC analysts, so outputs such as market share and growth rates match what IDC would publish. The source material does not provide pricing, customer counts or adoption metrics for the external product launch.

IDC also described broader internal use of Claude across the company. It said engineers rebuilt an internal data repository in three weeks instead of an estimated three months, and that code review time fell from five days to about 30 minutes after adoption of Claude Code. Product teams, it said, use Cowork to draft plans from research and internal files; planning sprints that took three weeks now take three days; and a new test can now take about 20 minutes to write, versus days previously. IDC said its sales team uses a Claude-built tool to read CRM exports and flag stalled deals, while its content marketing team uses an assistant to draft material and optimize it for search and AI answer engines before editorial review.

The announcement follows IDC’s Oct. 7, 2026 introduction of IDC Quanta for Tech Leaders, which the company positioned as an AI-powered technology-intelligence platform for enterprise decision-making. It also comes a day after IDC’s Oct. 27, 2026 FutureScape 2027 forecast that 60% of enterprises will run a majority of their business processes AI-first by 2029, up from 13% in 2026. Those earlier items provide context for IDC’s push to embed AI into both its products and internal workflows, but they are separate from the Claude integration announcement.

IDC CEO Lorenzo Larini said the integration allows customers to open Claude and get board-ready analysis in minutes, grounded in IDC’s research and more than 15 billion data points. Anthropic Chief Commercial Officer Paul Smith said IDC is using Claude to rethink how it works and how it delivers value to customers. The source material does not specify financial terms, contract duration or rollout timetable beyond the statement that the connector is available to IDC customers today.
