Spider Tanks Unveils Dragon Cave Arena: A New Battlefield for Tank Olympiad

Spider Tanks, a popular game by Gala Games, has introduced a new arena called Dragon Cave, enhancing the strategic elements of their Tank Olympiad matches. The new battlefield is designed with symmetry in mind, providing both opportunities and challenges for players, according to Gala News.

Know Your Battlefield

Dragon Cave boasts a symmetrical layout, which is a rarity among arenas. This symmetry can be advantageous for maintaining strategy on the move but can also pose coordination issues for teams. A split decision between two Tank Pilots could lead to easy pincer attacks from enemies.

The arena features four repair kits placed at regular intervals around the central ring. The battlefield is divided into four distinct areas, each repeated four times in a circular pattern, adding layers of strategic depth to the gameplay.

Area 1: Satellites

These four circles on the very exterior of Dragon Cave serve as redoubts when in trouble or regrouping points. However, they can also be traps, as they have three angles of attack clearly pointed at them. Players using shorter-range weapons are advised to avoid these areas. In the Chicken Chaser mode, these areas are crucial as birds often get stranded here, overlooked by other players.

Area 2: Roundabout Pullovers

Located between and just inside Area 1’s circles, these areas are more congested and wide open. They are critical for maneuvering through the arena but can be dangerous if players linger in the middle. These areas offer strategic advantages for staging attacks and pulling enemies, making them essential for tactical play.

Area 3: The Chasm Gap

These small strips between lava chasms are vital for arena dominance. Protected by narrow fences, they offer a decent amount of cover despite being in the middle of the action. These areas can shift quickly from contested zones to defensive bulwarks, depending on the flow of the battle. The Command Point in the King of the Hill mode spawns in the northmost part of these areas, adding to their strategic importance.

Area 4: The Inner Circle

Although theoretically the most exposed area, the inner circle enjoys incredible cover from the ancient dragon statue overhead. Hugging the walls provides protection against half the map and allows for quick repositioning. In the Poultry Pusher mode, this area often becomes the most violent, but it remains a strong angle of attack in other game modes as well.

Dragon Cave Best Practices

Cover Isn’t Always Reliable

The large pillars on the outside corners of the south and west Area 2s can be easily shot around from adjacent areas. Even the cover provided by the dragon statue can be compromised if an enemy moves perpendicularly. Players need to be aware of these vulnerabilities when using cover.

Enemies Approach Quickly

Due to the many winding paths across the relatively small battlefield, enemies can approach quickly, even with slow tanks. The 8-second respawn timer may be all the delay players get before an enemy is back in the fight, making quick reactions essential.

Mind the Enemy’s Weapons

The narrow cover in Dragon Cave makes it essential to understand the weapons opponents are using. Artillery can follow players anywhere in the arena, and melee weapons have little ground to cover before they can engage. Players must adapt their strategies based on the weapons their enemies are wielding.

Glorious Battle

Despite its simple layout, Dragon Cave offers complex nuances in positioning, making it a challenging and exciting addition to Spider Tanks. The arena's design encourages strategic thinking and quick reflexes, promising intense battles for Tank Olympiad participants.
