Analysis

Crédit Mutuel Arkéa suffered a $133 million fiat theft that hackers converted straight into crypto for rapid laundering, marking an unprecedented vector in European banking fraud. On-chain investigator ZachXBT traced the flow from the French bank through multiple accounts at Crypto.com and other platforms, with stablecoins swapped into ETH then funneled via WellWallet and Kyrrex into XMR. The bank confirmed no comment when contacted and remains unable to verify the incident officially.

ZachXBT ruled out Lazarus Group involvement with high confidence and noted that swift reporting could have frozen over $30 million before the funds dispersed. The operation relied on mule accounts and exploited the delay between theft and public disclosure, allowing continued withdrawals even after the initial $106 million alert.

ETH Price Action Amid Laundering Flows

ETH trades at $2296.51 inside its Bollinger band with the upper resistance at $2306.48 capping upside while the lower support sits at $2239.27. Price holds just above the 50-EMA at $2292.01 yet remains well below the 200-EMA at $2422.75, confirming the longer-term bearish structure despite the MACD golden cross at -1.37. With RSI at 55.14 showing neutral momentum, the laundering-related ETH conversions appear to test upper band resistance without triggering overbought conditions, suggesting any immediate continuation would likely require a retracement to the 50-EMA before fresh buying interest emerges.
