Base: Adds Global Stablecoin Support
Base expands to support USDC, EURC, MXNB and more stablecoins for seamless local currency transactions on Ethereum layer-2 network.
SourceBase, the Ethereum layer-2 network, just rolled out support for a slew of global stablecoins, enabling users to transact with local currencies like USDC for USD, EURC for euros, MXNB for Mexican pesos, and others including XSGD, AUDD, BRZ, CNGN, TGBP, CADC, ZARP, IDRX, VCHF, MYRC, BRLA, BRLY, and ARGT. Jesse Pollak, head of protocols at Base, announced this move to make the platform a hub for every currency, boosting adoption in emerging markets amid rising crypto stablecoin adoption trends over the past six months.
Historically, Base has surged in TVL by over 150% since late 2025, driven by low-fee transactions that undercut rivals, positioning it as a key player in Ethereum scalability solutions. This stablecoin expansion aligns with broader ETH ecosystem growth, where integrations like these have fueled transaction volumes spiking 40% in Q1 2026, especially as Bitcoin (BTC) dominance wanes and layer-2 narratives dominate.
On the technical front, ETH trades at $2360.6 in a clear bullish structure, hugging above the EMA50 at $2256.33 which acts as immediate dynamic support, while the EMA200 at $2149.41 reinforces the longer-term uptrend floor. Momentum builds with the MACD printing a golden cross at 34.67, signaling sustained buying pressure, yet the RSI at 62.65 stays neutral, avoiding overbought territory. Price action squeezes inside the Bollinger Bands, testing the upper resistance at $2451.55 as volatility contracts—expect a breakout push if buyers hold the lower band support at $2161.07, but confluence here suggests a tactical pullback to the EMA50 before resuming the grind higher, much like the consolidation patterns we saw in early 2026 rallies.
