On August 11, BitGo announced a joint venture with BiT Global to transfer WBTC custody to a different jurisdiction, prompting some protocols and institutions to stop using WBTC due to potential risks. The next day, on August 12, the new address was created and began withdrawing large amounts of WBTC from Binance.
