Telegram has launched private testing for its Telegram Open Network (TON) blockchain according to the report by Russian media Vedomosti. The report stated that the testing version of TON Blockchain is available only to a limited number of developers around the globe.

Two anonymous persons who got access to the TON Blockchain as reported by Vedomosti revealed that TON Blockchain is capable of an “extremely high transaction speed” which can be a major competitor to Ethereum for the implementation of smart contracts and decentralized applications on its platform.

However, the launch date of TON has been delayed a few times already. For example, Telegram claimed to release the TON testing version in the fall of 2018, and later project developers claimed to launch in early 2019. There is no official statement on the launch date of TON blockchain. It had been reported by Cointelegraph that the purchase agreements for the tokens will be terminated if TON does not launch by 31 October 2019.
