AMD Teams with InSync on Advanced Video Processing Tech

AMD and InSync combine adaptive computing and video tech to empower broadcast OEMs with advanced video processing for IP-based workflows.
AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) and InSync are collaborating to address the growing complexity of IP-based broadcast workflows with advanced video processing solutions. Leveraging AMD’s adaptive computing technology and InSync’s high-performance video conversion tools, the partnership aims to help broadcast and Pro AV original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) meet the increasing demands of modern media production environments.
As media workflows move from legacy SDI infrastructure to IP-based systems, broadcasters face mounting challenges: managing multiple resolutions, frame rates, and color spaces, while ensuring seamless integration with standards like SMPTE ST 2110. These requirements are particularly acute in live production, where low latency and uncompromising image quality are essential.
AMD adaptive SoCs and FPGAs provide hardware flexibility, enabling OEMs to optimize for tasks like frame-rate conversion, HDR processing, and video compression. These devices, built upon AMD’s Xilinx acquisition in 2022, have become critical in video workflows requiring low latency, parallel processing, and reconfigurability. For example, AMD’s Zynq UltraScale+ EV devices support 4K encoding/decoding at up to 60 fps, while newer Versal-class SoCs integrate AI engines for edge inference and vision workloads.
InSync brings specialized expertise to the table, focusing on advanced video conversion technologies such as motion-compensated frame-rate conversion, deinterlacing, and HDR processing. Its flagship MCC-UHD solution is designed for high-motion content like Tier 1 sports, delivering broadcast-grade performance in UHD or HD formats. By utilizing AMD's adaptive hardware as a foundation, InSync offers these capabilities as licensable IP, allowing OEMs to accelerate product development and maintain differentiation in competitive markets.
This partnership is part of AMD’s broader strategy to solidify its position in video processing, a market it has increasingly dominated through its adaptive computing portfolio. The company has also highlighted its Vitis Video Analytics SDK and other software frameworks that simplify deployment of video pipelines for tasks like streaming, edge AI, and real-time image enhancement.
Beyond traditional broadcasting, the solutions developed by AMD and InSync have applications in corporate communications, live events, and immersive venue setups. As broadcast-grade video processing becomes relevant across wider AV markets, the need for flexible, scalable solutions continues to grow.
