Binance Charity Pledges $1 Million in BNB for Brazil's Flood-Impacted Cities

Binance Charity to Aid Brazil's Flood Victims

In response to the recent flooding and heavy rainfall that has ravaged the Southern Region of Brazil, Binance Charity has pledged to donate up to US$ 1 million in BNB token vouchers. This donation will be directed to registered Binance users residing in the areas most severely affected by the disaster.

Identifying Eligible Beneficiaries

The identification of eligible users will be based on Proof of Address (POA) completed on or before May 6, 2024, in cities of Rio Grande do Sul, which have been significantly impacted by heavy rains. Users who have completed their POA before this date will each receive $80 USD in BNB token vouchers in their Rewards Hub.

However, Binance recognises that many users in the affected cities may not have completed their POA by the set date. Thus, for existing users who complete their POA between May 7 and June 6, 2024, Binance will issue $25 USD in BNB token vouchers to their accounts. The funds are expected to start reaching users by May 9, 2024.

The Role of Crypto in Disaster Relief

In the aftermath of natural disasters, people often lose access to traditional banking services at the very moment they need extra funds for essential needs such as food, medical supplies, and other necessities. Cryptocurrency transfers are increasingly being used to deliver financial aid to disaster victims due to their fast, low-cost, borderless, and transparent nature.

In these challenging times, Binance stands with its users and continues to explore additional ways to support the community in Brazil. In the past, Binance Charity has extended support to users in countries including Ukraine, Turkey, Libya, Morocco, Taiwan, and Italy.
