IOTA Integrates Pyth Pro for Institutional-Grade Price Feeds

IOTA connects to Pyth Pro, upgrading to low-latency, institutional-grade price feeds as Pyth transitions to a subscription-based model.
IOTA has integrated with Pyth Pro, the institutional-grade price feed infrastructure from the Pyth Network. This marks a significant upgrade for developers building on IOTA, as Pyth Pro offers lower latency, over 3,000 data feeds, and a subscription-based model designed for high-frequency use cases. Developers using Pyth Core on IOTA must migrate to Pyth Pro by August 18, 2026, or lose access to price feeds.
Pyth Network, a decentralized oracle platform, has been providing real-time price feeds to IOTA through its original product, Pyth Core. However, the network is undergoing a major transition, retiring its Pythnet architecture and shifting to Pyth Pro. This upgrade is part of a broader strategy by the Pyth Network to cater to institutional clients and advanced trading applications with TradFi-grade data quality.
Why Pyth Pro Matters
Unlike Pyth Core, which offered free but slower decentralized price feeds, Pyth Pro provides faster updates, more reliable infrastructure, and an expanded range of assets such as equities, futures, and FX. Data delivery is facilitated through APIs with transparent subscription pricing, starting at $500 per month. For applications requiring constant, high-frequency price updates—like decentralized exchanges or derivatives platforms—this upgrade offers a crucial edge.
Pyth Pro consolidates data from over 120 institutional providers and supports more than 100 blockchain networks. For IOTA, this integration positions its ecosystem to attract developers and projects that demand institutional-grade tooling, especially as crypto continues to bridge the gap with traditional finance.
Key Deadlines for IOTA Developers
- Immediately: Developers can now subscribe to a Pyth Pro data plan and begin migrating their applications using Pyth’s updated documentation.
- By August 18, 2026: Pyth Core will be discontinued, and all applications relying on it must migrate to Pyth Pro to maintain functionality.
This transition follows a delayed upgrade timeline. Originally scheduled for July 31, 2026, the Pyth Core sunset date was pushed to August 18 to ensure a smoother migration for developers across its ecosystem.
Strategic Implications
The shift to Pyth Pro aligns with the Pyth Network’s broader move toward a commercial model. By monetizing its ultra-low-latency data feeds, the network aims to attract institutional users while generating sustainable revenue through subscriptions, Listing-as-a-Service (LaaS), and index revenue shares. For crypto projects like IOTA, integrating Pyth Pro enhances their ability to support advanced use cases, from DeFi protocols to real-world asset tokenization and institutional trading desks.
For developers and traders, the takeaway is clear: the industry is evolving toward higher-quality, paid infrastructure, and projects like IOTA are positioning themselves to compete in this next phase of adoption. The clock is ticking for those still reliant on older Pyth Core feeds—August 18 is the hard deadline to make the switch.
