Matrixport Expands European Presence with Swiss Crypto Asset Manager Acquisition

Matrixport acquires Crypto Finance (Asset Management) AG, enhancing its European footprint and regulatory compliance in the crypto asset management sector.
Matrixport, a prominent crypto financial services provider, has announced the successful completion of its all-cash acquisition of Crypto Finance (Asset Management) AG (CFAM), a licensed Swiss crypto asset manager. This strategic move aims to bolster Matrixport's presence in Europe and enhance its portfolio of crypto investment solutions, according to Matrixport Blog.
Rebranding and Strategic Significance
The newly acquired entity has been rebranded as Matrixport Asset Management AG (MAM). As a pioneer in institutional-grade crypto investment solutions, MAM manages the first FINMA-approved crypto fund and offers a comprehensive suite of crypto investment products and structuring capabilities. This acquisition aligns with Matrixport's strategy to expand its services in Europe, providing clients with innovative and compliant crypto asset management products.
Leadership and Vision
John Ge, Co-Founder & CEO of Matrixport, expressed his enthusiasm over the acquisition, stating, “We are delighted with the establishment of MAM and warmly welcome the team to the Matrixport family. The acquisition enables clients access to the most innovative, compliant crypto asset management products, and aligns with our strategy to further expand services in Europe.”
Stefan Schwitter, the previous head of asset management at CFAM, has been appointed as the CEO of MAM. Schwitter shared his excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to join one of the true crypto trailblazers in the digital assets industry. Our complementary strengths will add value to the existing and future client base of Matrixport Group on a global level.”
Regulatory Compliance and Market Leadership
This acquisition underscores Matrixport's commitment to regulatory compliance and strengthens its market leadership in the crypto asset management sector. Christopher Liu, Matrixport’s Chief Compliance Officer & Head of Regulatory, commented, “The acquisition expands our regulatory footprint in Switzerland and reflects our steadfast commitment towards continually collaborating with regulators to review existing regulations and refine virtual assets-specific regulations in the years to come.”
The transaction has received all necessary regulatory approvals, including from FINMA, and is now fully completed.
