OKX to Support Mina (MINA) Mainnet Upgrade, Suspends Deposits and Withdrawals

Leading cryptocurrency exchange OKX has announced its support for the upcoming Mina (MINA) network's mainnet upgrade. This upgrade involves a hard fork and is scheduled to take place on June 4, 2024, at approximately 9:00 am UTC, according to OKX.

Details of the Upgrade

In preparation for the upgrade, OKX will suspend deposits and withdrawals of Mina (MINA) tokens and associated network tokens starting at 8:00 am UTC on the same day. The platform has assured users that it will resume these services once the upgraded networks are deemed stable. However, OKX noted that there will be no separate announcement to mark the resumption of services.

To ensure the safety of user funds, OKX has advised against making any deposits or withdrawals of Mina (MINA) tokens and related tokens during the upgrade period.

Trading Activities Unaffected

Despite the temporary suspension of deposits and withdrawals, the trading of Mina (MINA) tokens will not be impacted by the network upgrade. Users are encouraged to remain cautious while engaging in spot, margin, and derivatives trading of these tokens during the upgrade period. OKX recommends increasing margin levels to mitigate risks associated with trading activities.

Furthermore, users holding Mina (MINA) tokens in their OKX accounts need not take any action as the exchange will handle all technical requirements related to the upgrade.

Industry Context

This upgrade is part of Mina's ongoing efforts to enhance its blockchain technology. Known for its lightweight blockchain, Mina aims to improve scalability and efficiency without compromising security.

The cryptocurrency industry has seen numerous network upgrades and hard forks in recent years as projects strive to enhance their technology to accommodate growing user bases and transaction volumes. Such upgrades are crucial for maintaining the robustness and reliability of blockchain networks.

OKX's decision to support Mina's mainnet upgrade underscores its commitment to providing users with seamless and secure trading experiences. As the upgrade date approaches, users are advised to stay informed and follow any further instructions provided by OKX.
