Tether solidifies its position as a major U.S. debt holder with $127 billion in Treasuries and reports a $4.9 billion profit in Q2 2025, reflecting significant growth and market trust.

Tether International Limited (TIL) has reported its Q2 2025 financial results, revealing substantial growth and influence in the financial markets. As per the attestation completed by BDO, a top-five global independent accounting firm, Tether has issued over $20 billion USD₮ year-to-date, with a circulating supply surpassing $157 billion as of June 30, 2025. This increase underscores the growing trust and adoption of USD₮ in the global market, according to Tether.
Significant U.S. Treasury Holdings
Tether's exposure to U.S. Treasuries has reached a remarkable $127 billion, including $105.5 billion in direct holdings and $21.3 billion in indirect ownership. This positions Tether among the largest holders of U.S. government debt worldwide. This development comes amidst U.S. policymakers' efforts to enhance the dollar's global digital presence through the GENIUS Act. Tether's alignment with public monetary objectives illustrates its role as a secure conduit for onchain U.S. dollar liquidity.
Robust Financial Performance
The financial health of Tether is further highlighted by its Q2 net profit of approximately $4.9 billion, with a cumulative profit of $5.7 billion for the first half of 2025. Excluding contributions from gold and bitcoin, TIL generated $3.1 billion in recurrent profits, with these assets adding a further $2.6 billion.
The company's shareholder capital remained stable at around $5.47 billion, reinforcing its solvency and long-term sustainability. The excess reserves act as a buffer against market volatility, emphasizing Tether's capacity to operate independently across various market conditions.
Strategic Investments and Global Influence
Tether has reinvested a significant portion of its recent earnings into strategic initiatives, such as XXI Capital and the Rumble Wallet development, reflecting its dedication to innovation in finance and digital freedom. The U.S. has become a focal point for Tether's reinvestment strategy, with approximately $4 billion deployed domestically.
Tether's impact extends beyond financial markets, driving commerce, remittances, and innovation in over 150 countries, particularly in regions with limited traditional banking access. Tether's CEO Paolo Ardoino emphasized the company's role in reshaping global finance, stating that Tether is not just responding to global demand but actively shaping it.
As regulators develop frameworks for digital currencies, Tether stands as a model for stablecoin innovation, offering transparency, resilience, and extensive global reach. The trust in USD₮ as a stable digital dollar continues to grow, highlighting its vital role in providing access to the stability of the U.S. dollar worldwide.
