Oracle Database@Google Cloud Expands to Australia, Boosting Multicloud Capabilities

Oracle and Google Cloud have announced the expansion of Oracle Database@Google Cloud to the Australian market. This strategic move aims to enhance multicloud capabilities for businesses by providing access to Oracle's powerful database services on Google Cloud's infrastructure, according to oracle.com.

Enhancing AI and Analytics

The introduction of Oracle Database@Google Cloud in Australia is designed to help enterprises combine Oracle's database capabilities with Google Cloud’s analytics and AI services. This integration is set to improve decision-making processes and deliver more comprehensive results by utilizing Google’s Gemini models and Vertex AI platform. Additionally, businesses will be able to create and migrate cloud applications using Oracle AI Database services running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) within Google Cloud data centers.

Stephen Bovis, regional managing director for Oracle in Australia and New Zealand, emphasized the growing demand for multicloud solutions in the region. He noted that this collaboration will allow customers to leverage Oracle's high-performance AI database alongside Google Cloud’s native AI and analytics services, significantly accelerating innovation.

Expanding Partner Opportunities

Google Cloud and Oracle partners in Australia can now purchase Oracle Database@Google Cloud through the Google Cloud Marketplace via private offers. This new arrangement allows partners to resell and integrate these services into their solutions, supporting multicloud and IT modernization efforts. Partners in both the Google Cloud Partner Advantage program and the Oracle PartnerNetwork can take advantage of their existing Google Cloud investments to meet the increasing demand for modern multicloud architectures.

Matt Coates of Accenture highlighted the significance of this launch, stating that it comes at a crucial time when organizations are increasingly adopting multicloud strategies to modernize their IT infrastructure and drive data and AI innovation.

Global Expansion and Future Plans

The new Oracle Database@Google Cloud service is hosted in the Australia-Southeast 2 (Melbourne) Google Cloud region. This addition complements the existing seven Google Cloud regions in cities such as Tokyo, Frankfurt, and London, among others. Oracle and Google Cloud have also announced plans to open nine new regions in the next 12 months, including locations in Sydney, Mexico, and Milan, to meet the growing demand for resiliency and disaster recovery solutions.

Daphne Chung from IDC Asia/Pacific commented on the significance of this expansion, noting the increasing value organizations place on flexibility and scalability. By integrating AI models with existing data, businesses are not just enhancing efficiency but also unlocking new value from cloud services for future growth.
