Trade Strategy: Similar to yesterday. I've closed my long volatility trades, and will start to sell some volatility here and whenever it spikes. While implied volatility has sharply declined from 100% to 80% since Sunday, the longer-term average before the 12 March crash is around 55-60% so there's still juice to be short vol.

For the past few weeks, there have been quite a bit of talk/shill/promoting of ETH and I think largely driven by a combination of factors that I've described earlier (i.e. growing daily active addresses, more than 60 bil gas being used, $7bn in stablecoins and Greyscale's ETH demand). Other protocol tokens such as Cardano, Zilliqa and NEO also followed the ETH move, albeit less exaggerated.

There was also some additional evidence for some "blockbuster headline" today with Shenzhen offering $10mil RMB worth of digital currencies to its people reported earlier in the week. Hence, the unusual expectations for Xi to announce something related to blockchain or BTC today. Unfortunately, he did not pump our bags. Instead, he was trying to hype Shenzhen as a serious contender to HK. Boring.

What a day to usher into the weekend. BTC traded past $10k for a bit and now over 7% higher in the past 24 hours. The clear catalyst was Paul Tudor Jones announcing that his $22 billion fund will be investing in BTC a low single digit % of assets because it's a great hedge against a "great monetary inflation". It also reminded him of gold in the 70s, and I thought this was the highlight "At the end of the day, the best profit-maximizing strategy is to own the fastest horse. Just own the best performer and not get wed to an intellectual side that might leave you weeping in the performance dust because you thought you were smarter than the market. If I am forced to forecast, my bet is it will be Bitcoin.” It is also important to note this will largely remove much career risk of any hedge fund manager who wants to allocate into BTC today. Next wave of institutional buyers coming soon? Is that why CME listed futures open interest hit a record high yesterday?

FOMC tonight with consensus heading rather dovish. For example MS expects Fed to switch to a monthly program of Treasury QE at $80bn per month with a dovish bias in projections. Of course, Powell isn't going to offer much clarity in explicit forward guidance. With Nasdaq crossing 10k momentarily last night (just 2 minutes), the market is starting to get excited. Nikola, a electric truck company with 0 earnings, has more than doubled in share price from last week, is now actually worth close to $30 billion (more than Twitter?).
