Transatel, a subsidiary of NTT and a leader in cellular IoT connectivity, has announced a strategic partnership with Oracle Communications to bolster its 5G standalone services. This collaboration aims to enhance Transatel's connectivity offerings for automotive, travel, and industrial applications by utilizing Oracle's cloud native 5G signaling core, according to oracle.com.
Advancing IoT Connectivity
The integration of Oracle’s 5G Standalone (SA) core components will enable Transatel to provide secure, scalable, and reliable connectivity for millions of IoT devices. This advancement is crucial for mission-critical applications such as connected vehicles, in-flight connectivity, and industrial automation. Transatel's CEO, Jacques Bonifay, highlighted the importance of secure and high-performance connectivity, stating that Oracle was the ideal partner for this technological evolution.
Meeting Growing Demands
With the telecommunications industry undergoing rapid changes, Transatel aims to scale its network to 5G Standalone infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for connected devices. Oracle's cloud native 5G signaling core integrates seamlessly with Transatel's existing 3G/4G systems, allowing the company to accommodate the growing connectivity demands while maintaining security and performance during roaming.

Oracle’s cloud native 5G signaling portfolio, which includes the Service Communication Proxy (SCP), Security Edge Protection Proxy (SEPP), and Network Repository Function (NRF), provides Transatel with the tools to scale its network and launch new 5G services. These capabilities are essential for supporting real-time applications and enhancing security across the network. Andrew Morawski, executive vice president and general manager of Oracle Regulated Industries, emphasized that this transition to 5G Standalone will not only foster innovation but also unlock new opportunities for Transatel's customers.
