The United States Air Force is providing a $1.5 million funding to a blockchain-based firm, Simba Chain to develop blockchain based supply chain solutions.
The use cases and integration of blockchain technology are already extending beyond companies, to government agencies. Key technologically driven agencies of the United States of America are heavily invested in blockchain technology and other emerging technologies. In a bid to integrate blockchain technology into the air force logistics and supply chain, the United States Air Force has invested the sum of $1.5 million into Simba Chain. Simba Chain is an American based Blockchain as a Service company. The firm will be utilizing the funds to research and develop a blockchain for supply chain logistics for the U.S. Air Force.

The United States Air Force is a highly logistics based firm and thus invests in ventures that can render its operations more effective. The alliance with Simba Chain as reiterated by Simba’s CEO Joel Neidig will help the airforce in developing a node running Hyperledger Fabric at Oklahoma’s Tinker Air Force base. This Hyperledger Fabric will center around air force supply chain logistics with an emphasis on risk management.
With this blockchain infrastructure, the Air Force can anticipate and identify areas in the supply chain that may one day break down. This head start will afford the air force the leverage to put measures in place to avoid supply chain disruptions. The Hyperledger Fabric could also help secure parts by documenting every relevant data point, a critical feature for the Armed Forces.
